This is a rare find. A humble but very busy, authentic Mexican restaurant off the side of the freeway. They make their own salsa! Delicious, with a hint of fresh garlic... and they serve it to you with freshly baked tortilla chips. Dos Equis on tap! Pitchers! Pints! Whatever you want. Also a full bar. Their menus has a hundred choices, and I chose Shrimp Enchiladas, which were served as a delicious and very large dinner portion. You can't do better than Miguel's! Check it out when you're in the neighborhood.

Great lunch special deals for under $10, even comes with chips and salsa (a lot places have started skimping out on that at lunch). The website says they have something that is $6.95 every day, but I always forget to ask what that is, so most things I end up ordering are around 8.95. Also, there is a .50 charge to get things to go and you don't get the chips and salsa either. They even have some dinner specials around $10. Btw, the place kind of looks divey from the outside having a covered area with all of the windows missing, but that didn't bother me. This place and J.P.'s Lao kitchen are my go to's if I'm near the airport. If you read some other reviews, you might see "This place looks condemned", "this place looks like it's out of a horror movie", "this place is next door to the Bates Motel", "this place looks like a dive bar", etc... Don't worry about all that, it's just part of the charm! There is a pretty extensive list of lunch specials, maybe about 20 or so. A lot of great sounding dishes. Not a ton of food for lunch, but definitely enough. Lots of your usual types of lunch specials for a Mexican restaurant. "one chile relleno, one taco, refried beans and guacamole salad" or "one chalupa, one enchilada, choice of rice or beans". Plenty of other options as well, a huge menu. Everything I've ever had here has been good, not necessarily great, but at least good. I normally see people with some large drinks, even at lunch time, but I can't comment on that. I have never had a drink there. Go check it out, don't let the location and decor scare you. Not the best food in Charlotte, but good bang for your buck.

Very nice and authentic. The food came out fast and it was fresh. Silverware polished beer mug frozen. More chips than I can eat that came with the entre. Service was great kind and fast I felt welcomed. The ambiance is dive bar ish. They have a bar and it's all nationalities here. Very very impressed! Wish I was in town longer to try another menu item. Maybe the next trip! Great work Miguel and staff.

Went here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and they were not very busy. We were seated right away and brought some delicious chips and salsa. Our order was taken and the food arrived in good time and everything was correct. The acp was delicious as were the birria tacos. The restaurant was clean and the staff was attentive.

This place is way better than you would think. The food options are many, lots of traditional meals and combos! In short it's good. We had enchiladas and tacos! The chips and salsa come warm, free and plentiful. The inside is not large so if they're busy, there might be a wait. The service was good and quick and for atmosphere it's like an old family restaurant with good atmosphere! The ambiance is chill and it looks like a place where lots of locals frequent. It's near the airport and of the main road so it took us a minute to find but it was worth it.

I visited this restaurant since I didn't want to drive far from the hotel for a restaurant in town. I had just eaten Mexican the day before, but it looked good. All reviews are accurate, its off the beaten path somewhat, on a backroad, but at a fairly major intersection. From the outside, it looks kinda dumpy...and even on the inside, its not much better. I looked over the long menu and decided on the strawberry margarita, shrimp cocktail and carnitas. First up are the chips and salsa which comes out promptly. This one is runny and served cold. The chips are the grainy and dry type. This is just ok, let's hope the food is much better. The carnitas are filling. They came with 3 tortillas, which I blew though quickly....but after 2 margaritas and shrimp cocktail, I could only eat half of this. Not as good as carnitas I make at home....but decent and good enough for a work trip. Shrimp cocktail - this is decent but it's a Mexican cocktail, so the sauce is similar to a ketchup, which I don't really like. The shrimp are pretty small, but there are about 10 in this dish with plenty of avocado. Strawberry margarita - this is sweet so they're very easy to drink. At 7.25, they're large and decently priced. I give this restaurant a 3.5, but for yelp purposes round to a 4. Service is excellent and prices are fair....think pre-covid pricing.
